Redeemer’s University, through its Centre for Gender and Human Development Studies (CGHDS), continues to advance the vision of Sustainable Development Goal 5 (Gender Equality) by actively supporting women in fields and disciplines where they have been historically underrepresented.

The CGHDS serves as a strategic platform for promoting inclusion and empowerment across academic and professional spaces. Recognizing the persistent gender gap in certain disciplines, the Centre has initiated advocacy campaigns, outreach activities, and collaborative programmes that encourage more female participation in science, technology, entrepreneurship, and leadership development.

Through partnerships with non-governmental organizations, governmental bodies, and other academic institutions, the CGHDS facilitates knowledge-sharing and creates mentorship networks for young women. These partnerships provide opportunities for training, professional exposure, and skills acquisition, all designed to help women overcome systemic barriers that limit access to male-dominated disciplines.

In recent years, the university has strengthened this commitment through workshops and symposia focusing on women’s empowerment, leadership, and research participation. Such initiatives have amplified the voices of women in academia and inspired female students to pursue excellence in every field, including those traditionally perceived as male-dominated.

The Centre’s collaborative work also extends beyond the campus. Through community engagement and regional dialogues, Redeemer’s University leverages its academic expertise to contribute to national conversations on gender parity and inclusion. This holistic approach ensures that gender advocacy is not limited to awareness but translates into tangible opportunities for women to thrive in education, entrepreneurship, and professional practice.

By bridging academia, policy, and community action, Redeemer’s University reinforces its identity as a forward-thinking institution that champions inclusive education and equal opportunity for all.
